The Storm
June 5, 2020
She sits in her apartment,
hearing the rain
the feelings move through her; the sadness, the shame.
She’s learning not to judge,
she’s learning to feel,
she’s learning to cry,
she’s starting to heal.
The words pour out of her soul and on to the page,
she’s breaking out of her prison, out of her cage.
“Who am I?’ she wonders,
“Who am i?” she asks asks,
“You’re love” says the rain, “you’re just wearing a mask.“
These words ripple through her, like she’s going to explode,
knowing deeply how she’s meant to show up in this world.
But, she’s scared of her truth,
she’s scared of her power,
scared to step out,
and be drenched in the shower.
She feels naked and exposed risking it all,
the friendships, the work, and the life she has known.
“What if they judge me? What if I’m alone?”
“Oh, they may my dear, but then they were never really your own.
And, the life that awaits you is greater than you’ve ever known.”
She opens the door and stares at the rain,
wondering if she’s gone absolutely insane.
But, she inhales with courage,
then exhales the fear,
stepping into the storm,
but also the peace of right here.
She takes a look back, to bid her old world goodbye,
“Thank you for everything, but its time to fly.”
